You are not going to believe me when I tell you that I’ve driven past this place for years and didn’t know it was there. You see, the Graber Olive House is on a residential street.
This little treasure of the Inland Empire is in Ontario. As the name implies, it is an olive house and an olive producing company that has been at this exact location since 1894.
Its a family run business and at this time, Clifford Graber, II, oversees operations. Way to go, awesome.
At first glance you say: “Really? this is a company?” But, it is a fully equipped olive curing and packing place. The beauty of this house is that it meshes well as part of the community, it’s not a sore in the eye. As a matter of fact, its a working museum, I think! Its rich with history and it goes to show how you never know how things will turn out when you start something. The Graber family bought the land to grow oranges and while they waited for the trees to mature they began harvesting the native olive trees on the property. The rest is history.
Olives
The olives are so delicious!! They are packed here and shipped all over the world. There are a couple of gift shops that sell the canned olives, gift-baskets, and an unbelievable amount of cute things. The gift shop keepers, Connie and Rosalie, are a fountain of knowledge and can answer any question about the place, the olives, and the community. They have tours! You have to come by and take a tour when you come around this area. The gallery of pictures is separated by sections of the factory. Click on the pictures to enlarge. Enjoy!
I want to thank Yadira Salazar for recommending this place as a “must blog”.
